Shelby Gomez,)
Hi!
My name is Shelby.
I am an English Springer Spaniel and I live at Singing Dog
Ranch.  I was born on Christmas day 2003 in West Virginia.
My registered name is Eastgatewedgwood Winterstorm.
How did I get from West Virginia to California?  Well,
therein lies my tale...

While I was just a puppy romping around in West Virginia
with my doggie mom and Michelle, my #1 human mom, a nice
lady in California was very sad because her favorite doggie
had died.  At the same time, my #1 mom thought it might be
a good idea for me to find a forever home where I could be
top dog!  That's where Auntie Marie comes in.  Auntie
Marie lives in Texas.  She heard that I was looking for a new
home and she put mom #1 and mom #2 together.  The next
thing I know I'm going for a ride in the car to a big noisy
place I'd never seen before.  Mom #1 kissed and hugged me,
put me in my crate and I was rolled away.   I'm not sure what
happened next, but  after a very long time and a lot of
strange sounds and smells, a kind lady opened my crate and
said "Welcome to California!"  All I could think was "I gotta
pee and poop soooo bad"!
Here I am sitting on a bale of
alfalfa in the barn.  I'd rather eat
alfalfa than sit on it.  I love it so
much I've earned the nickname
"Hay Dog".
Things I Like
Unstuffing stuffed toys - One of my favorite games is a contest.
Tramp and I see who can rip the stuffing out of a new toy the fastest.
The first one who gets to the squeaker wins.  I like to leave a trail of
stuffing wherever I go...especially outside where it blows like little
clouds all over the yard.

Kong Toys - stuffed with food, of course!

Playing with Tramp - the rougher the better...I like to grab Tramp by
the scruff of her neck and drag her across the floor.  This is a pretty
good trick considering Tramp weighs 55 pounds!

Recycling the empty feed bags - picture it!

Chasing the chickens - When I first got here I was afraid of the
chickens and geese and turkeys.  But I soon learned they were more
afraid of me.  I would never hurt one though...hee, hee, hee!

Things I Don't Like

Standing Still - for qnything, but especially having my muddy feet wiped

E-Collars - see the "E-collar Blues"

Being told NO

Being patient - it's just so hard!

The clippers around my face - they tickle

Not being allowed to get dirty ALL THE TIME
I don't see what the big deal is
about paw prints on the sheets???

My Motto ~ Curb your enthusiasm!
After I took care of that we jumped in the car and three
hours later (and lunch at a nice Mexican restaurant) I was at
Singing Dog Ranch.
You would think any ordinary dog would be overwhelmed by all
that.  But not me!  I hit the ground running and haven't
stopped since.
I love it here at Singing Dog Ranch, with my best friend Tramp
and Coconut the cat.  There are chickens to chase and horses
to tease and lots of hugs and kisses to get.  I will always love my
mom #1 and thank her and Auntie Marie for making all my
dreams come true.
